Introducing St. Luke's in the Valley 0

Recently, there was a change in the number of churches located in Pembroke.

With our first service on Nov. 16, St. Luke's Anglican Church became the 23rd parish in Canada (alongside of several church plants and more congregations on the way) to open its doors under the banner of the Anglican Network in Canada (ANiC).

ANiC is an ecclesial (church) body temporarily under the jurisdiction of the Anglican Province of the Southern Cone (South America), one of 38 jurisdictions in the worldwide Anglican Communion, until such time as a new Anglican Province in North America is established (expected to happen within the next six months).

The Anglican Network, including the parish of St. Luke's, is committed to remaining faithful to Holy Scripture and classic Anglican beliefs while being mission oriented and open to the work of the Holy Spirit.

You can find out more about the network at their website www.anglicannetwork.ca.

On Sunday, Nov. 23, the Parish of St. Luke's welcomed Bishop Don Harvey, moderator of the ANiC, to only its second service. During this joyful service Bishop Harvey welcomed the people of St. Luke's as a new congregation into the Anglican Network.

He also heard Pastor Tim Parent's vows and promises and presented him with his formal license as a priest in the Anglican Network in Canada and thus in the worldwide Anglican Church.

St. Luke's at the present time is holding services and children's church every Sunday morning at 10 a. m. at the Seventh Day Adventist Church located on Drive-In Road, Pembroke.

The pastor and congregation of the Seventh Day Adventist Church not only opened their hearts to us but also their building, and for this we are very grateful.

We at St. Luke's look forward to working together with our fellow Anglicans and Christians of other denominations in the Upper Ottawa Valley to bring glory to God and to reach out to our area and beyond in service, witness and love with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

You are invited to visit us any time, and to watch for future programs and ministries as this congregation grows and develops. For now our contact phone number is 613-735-4210.
