The suspects charged in the robbery of a Whitewater Region home will go on trial.

Following an investigation by the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police, Dion Ranger, 33, of Pembroke, was arrested and charged with assault and robbery with violence.

A second man, 30-year-old Tivadar Basa, of Barry's Bay, was also charged with one count of robbery and one count of choking in connection with the alleged robbery which took place Jan. 30 at a residence on LaPasse Road.

Both men remain in custody at the Ottawa-Carleton Detention Centre (OCDC). A third man, 23-year-old Donald Sullivan, has been charged with a single count of theft.

In provincial court Tuesday, defence counsel Michael March, representing Mr. Basa, agreed to move the matter to trial scheduling court for this Friday. Mr. Ranger is represented by lawyer Geraldine Castle-Trudel. The judicial pre-trial was conducted earlier this month in front of Justice Grant Radley-Walters. The crown has elected to proceed by indictment.
