Woodstock Slammers off to the RBC Cup 0
The Woodstock Slammers will represent Eastern Canada at the junior A national hockey championship.
The Maritime champions edged the CCHL champion Nepean Raiders 3-2 in Kanata Sunday afternoon to capture the 2012 Fred Page Cup.
In a close contest, the teams each had a goal in the first and second periods to head into the third knotted at two apiece.
Woodstock's Sam Caldwell scored with 2:19 to to in the game to lift the Slammers to their first Eastern Canadian title.
Also scoring for Woodstock were Andrew Langan and Ryan Purvis while captain Craig Cowie and Ryan Johnston counted for the Raiders.
The Humboldt Broncos are the 2012 RBC Cup hosts. The tournament runs from May 5 to 13.
