$32,000 raised for MRI campaign at PRH 0
The Knights of Columbus Council 1531 raised $32,000 at its annual Pat Harrington Golf Classic. The money will go towards the Pembroke Regional Hospital MRI: Image Matters campaign. On hand for the donation was Bob Cotnam, PRH foundation chairman, Pierre Noel, PRH president/chief executive officer, Carol Anne Meehan, CTV Ottawa news anchor and honourary campaign chairwoman, John Huff, chairman for the golf classic and Jack Schreader, grand knight, Knights of Columbus Council 1531 and Rick Lewis past-grand knight.
Under clear blue skies, overlooking the Ottawa Valley the Knights of Columbus held the Pat Harrington Golf Classic 2012.
Over 120 golfers hit the links at the Petawawa Golf Course enjoying one of the last days of the summer to raise money for the Pembroke Regional Hospital (PRH). Named in honour of “a long standing friend, brother knight, past-grand knight, past-faithful navigator, past-district deputy, golf aficionado and staunch supporter of the Pembroke hospital” the annual event has become a signature hospital fundraiser for the Knights of Columbus Council 1531.
“This is a special event and we are appreciative of the Knights of Columbus for hosting it every year,” said Pierre Noel, president and chief executive officer of the PRH. “It is no small feat organizing this kind of event every year, especially organizing this weather.”
He added the hospital had a “good contingent” out on the course.
“We appreciate people coming out from all parts of the county to support the Knights of Columbus and the hospital,” added Mr. Noel.
Before the golfers climbed into their carts and the course was under a flurry of activity, John Huff, chairman for the event, thanked the community members for coming out to support the tournament.
All money raised at the golf classic is donated to the hospital.
“Eight years ago we pledged to raise $1 million,” explained Mr. Huff.
He added, “We are over halfway there.”
The round of golf was followed by a dinner and an auction MC’d by this year’s honourary chairperson for the PRH MRI: Image Matters campaign, Carol Anne Meehan. The anchor for CTV Ottawa was in town to help raise money to purchase the $4.5 million diagnostic imaging machine.
“This is an incredible community effort,” said Ms. Meehan, adding, “We need to thank everyone in the community because they came together. We are very, very grateful.”
She added, “$32,000 is an incredible amount to raise.”
Last year the Knights of Columbus event raised $35,000.
