Dog in stable condition after being attacked by unidentified man 0

By Ryan Paulsen, Daily Observer

PEMBROKE -

Officials are staying quiet on specifics, but Pembroke's animal control officer Michael Street was able to confirm late Wednesday afternoon, Sep. 26, that a female dog involved in an incident with an unidentified individual did sustain injuries, but she is now in the care of animal control and there is no fear for her life as a result of those injuries.

Social media in the Ottawa Valley was abuzz all day Wednesday with rumours and various accounts from people claiming to have witnessed the event, but Street's response was the first official confirmation of anything to do with the event.

Street was also able to refute at least one element of the story as it was being spread across Facebook and Twitter - the dog was not pregnant, contrary to some accounts of the story.

The animal control office is currently assisting the Pembroke Police Service in their investigation into the incident, but Street declined to offer any comment or confirmation other than on the wellbeing of the dog.

The Daily Observer will continue to follow the story as more details are made available.
