Boys and Girls Club will hold strike day camp Thursday
For parents struggling to find child care this Thursday when public elementary teachers in Renfrew County stage a one-day strike, the Boys and Girls Club of Pembroke may have the answer.
The club's board of directors has approved a the day camp which will be run out of the Knights of Columbus Hall from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with the option of extended care from 6:30 a.m. to 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. for an additional cost.
While 72 hours may be enough time for people with family to arrange for emergency child care, the club believes there will be a need so it is willing to provide good, professional care for the day for working parents, explained Bonnie Schryer, director of the Boys and Girls Club of Pembroke.
The day will include sports, crafts and games. School-aged children must bring a peanut-free lunch, snacks, water bottle, indoor shoes and warm outdoor clothing. For more information or to register, please call 613-735-1933. Space is limited and preference will be given to members so don't delay. Call to reserve a spot immediately.
