PEMBROKE -

A local man has been charged with sexual assault and a number of other charges following a Dec. 10, 2012 incident in Laurentian Valley Township.

Master Cpl. Clifford Lake, 34, was detained following a bail hearing in the week before Christmas, and made his first court appearance on charges of sexual assault, assault, overcoming resistance to commit an indictable offence and two counts of failing to comply with undertaking or recognizance on Tuesday.

In August 2010, Lake was charged with one count of sexual assault, one count of break and enter and one count of unlawfully being in a dwelling in connection with an incident at CFB Petawawa, but was released on conditions following a bail hearing.

His trial for those charges is set to start on Friday, Jan. 11, and could continue into next week.
