WINNIPEG — Saskatchewan's Brad Wall continues to be the most popular premier in the country, even while Manitoba Premier Greg Selinger tanks.

Wall enjoys a 65% approval rating in his province, according to an Angus Reid poll released Tuesday.

On the bottom end, Selinger — who has faced huge divisions even in his own party — is sitting at 17%. That's down from 30% in a similar poll taken in September.

Selinger has been dogged by calls to resign since he introduced a provincial sales tax hike from 7% to 8% in 2013.

Since then, he's faced a number of scandals, a growing deficit and rebellions in his own caucus.

The NDP has been in power in Manitoba since 1999, with Selinger as its leader since 2009 following Gary Doer's resignation.

B.C. Premier Christie Clark comes in as the second-least popular premier in the country, with a 34% approval rating.

The online survey was conducted between Dec. 4 and Dec. 13, and 6,456 Canadians were surveyed, with a margin of error of 1.2%, 19 times out of 20.
