Bishop Smith honours its athletic best

Bishop Smith Catholic High School celebrated the athleticism and dedication of the Class of 2012-13 this week during its annual awards banquet.

As the school year wraps up, the most valuable players (MVP), most improved players (MIP), most dedicated players (MDP), most sportsmanlike players (MSP), and most promising player (MPP) were recognized for each sport and grade.

In the top awards for 2012-13, Adam gale and Bradley Switzer were named Top Senior Male athletes, while Shanna Harrington and Erika Lapierre were named the Top Senior Female athletes. The Top Junior Male athletes were Isaac Anderson and Brett Kenny, while Mara Copeland and Meegan Couturier were named Top Junior Female athletes.

The recipients of the Michael Roy Memorial Award were Jordan Radford and Jaelen List.

The Top Female and Male Senior athletes who demonstrated leadership and dedication were Brady McNish, Connor Shaw, Sam Bateman, Jessica Edmonds and Ashley Roesner. The Top Female and Male Junior athletes who demonstrated enthusiasm and dedication were Jacob Edwards, Adam McCambridge, Calvin Williams, Kali Robinson and Nicole Shaw.

The Most Promising Grade 8 Female athletes was Kirstin Regier, while Michael Plazek was named the Most Promising Grade 8 Male Athlete. The Most Enthusiastic Grade 8 Female athlete was Erin Kelly, the Most Enthusiastic Grade 8 Male athletes were Lukas MacIntosh and Bryton Pleau.

The winners of individual sports are as follows:

In Junior Girls Basketball, Mara Copeland and Meegan Couturier were named MVP. Erika Lapierre was the MVP in Senior Girls Basketball, while Holly Williams was named the MIP. Brett Kenny was the MVP in Junior Boys Volleyball, while Jacob Edwards was named the MIP. In the Senior Boys Volleyball, Adam Gale and Tanner Smith were named the MVPs.

Chad LeBlanc and Brady McNish were named the MVPs in Varsity Golf. Leigha Stiles was named the MVP in Varsity Girls Rugby, while Rachel Pecoskie was named the MSP. Bradley Switzer was named MDP for Varsity Cross Country, while Sam Bateman was named the MSP and Autumn Ogilvie was named MPP.

In Grade 8 Cross-Country, Erin Kelly and Michael Plazek were named the MVPs. In Grade 8 Girls Volleyball, Xjandria Underhill and Morgan Schneider were named the MIPs, while Holly Yaraskavitch was named MDP and Keely Goldberg was named MSP. In Grade 8 Boys Volleyball, Cole Burns and Jordan Radford were named the MVPs, while Michael Plazek was named MDP and Nathan Allen was named MSP.

Mara Copeland and Meegan Couturier were named MVP in Junior Girls Volleyball. Amy Pickering was named the MVP in Senior Girls Volleyball, while Shanna Harrington was named MSP. Brendan Lipke was named the MVP in Junior Boys Basketball, while Bailey Adshade was named the MIP. Brady McNish was named the MVP in Senior Boys Basketball, while Sam Bateman was named the MDP.

In Varsity Boys Hockey, Adam Gale was named MVP, while Nathan Anderson was named MDP. In Curling, Amber Ethier and Brian Baynham were named the MIPs. In Grade 8 Girls Basketball, Erin Kelly, Caitlin Cybulski and Kirstin Regier were named MVPs, while Destiny Gaudette was named the MSP.

In Grade 8 Boys Basketball, Michael Plazek and Jake Smith were named the MVPs. In Grade 9 Badminton, Scott Campbell was named the MDP, while Taylor Parsons was named MIP and Nicole Shaw was named the MSP. Miranda Giroux, Jessica Patriquin, Aaron Britton and Jacob Lapenskie were named the MIPs in Grade 10/11 Badminton. In Varsity Badminton, Brittan McDonald and Connor Shaw were named the MVPs, while Chad LeBlance was named the MDP. In Grade 8 Badminton, Jaelen List, Michael Plazek, Brooklynn Jamieson and Bryton Pleau were named the MVPs.

In Junior Girls Soccer, Mara Copeland was named the MVP, while Kaitlyn Lauzon was named MIP. Brianna Martin and Maggie Kinney were named the MVPs in Senior Girls Soccer. Isaac Anderson and Andrew Ryan were named the MVPs in Junior Boys Soccer. Connor Shaw was named the MVP in Senior Boys Soccer, while Scott Conroy was named MDP.

In Track and Field, Wesley Souliere and Autumn Ogilvie were named the MVPs. Kail Robinson was named the MIP, while Anthony Davis was named the MPP. Christina Barone and Myra Giroux were named the MVPs in Junior Tennis. Luke Allinson was named MDP in Senior Tennis, while Shaun Tabbert was named the MIP. In Co-Ed Softball, Scott Conroy and Brendan Lipke were named the MVPs, while Jennica Brazeau and Jami Layman were named the MIPs.
