Take me out to the ball game?

As the North American attention span gets shorter and shorter in the world of Twitter, Major League Baseball still allows hitters to step out of the batter’s box after every pitch and pitchers to take their sweet time before starting their windup.

The game moves so slowly now, I find it almost impossible to watch on television as my level of frustration grows with every delay between pitches.

So I wasn’t surprised to learn that Major League Baseball’s average attendance dropped this season for the third straight year. Total attendance was 73.06 million for an average of 30,141 per game.

Last year’s total attendance was 73.42 million, a 6.7-per-cent drop from 2008.
