Rob Lowe slayed with sex tape jokes during roast

Rob Lowe’s infamous sex tape was the main focus of his Comedy Central Roast on Monday night.

The Hollywood actor submitted to being on the receiving end of rude, insulting jokes as part of the TV program, whose previous targets include Justin Bieber, Donald Trump and Charlie Sheen.

A series of comedy stars and celebrities signed up to abuse Rob and all were quick to touch upon the tape leaked in 1988, which showed him getting intimate with a 16-year-old he met at a nightclub in Atlanta, Georgia. As the age of consent is 16 in Georgia, both were of legal age to engage in sexual activity, although not to be recorded.

Stand-up comedienne Nikki Glaser didn’t hold back when she quipped, “God I had such a crush on you when I was little girl. If only I had known that’s when I had my best shot.”

While British funnyman Jimmy Carr joked: “Underage girls he made sex tapes with thought they were safe. They knew no-one would ever watch a movie starring Rob Lowe.”

Singer Jewel decided to be creative with her roast, transforming lyrics to her song You Were Meant For Me to take aim at the scandal. She sang about how she was the girl in the video, and joked he showed her his manhood when she “was just 16-ish”.

There were also plenty of jibes aimed at his career and youthful appearance. Host David Spade took aim at both Rob, 52, and Caitlyn Jenner, previously known as athlete Bruce Jenner, by commenting that those who don’t think the actor has had plastic surgery are the same people who wonder if Caitlyn “has” had procedures.

This came after a comparison to Brad Pitt’s acting skills, with David telling the audience: “It’s not easy being Rob. He said being so handsome made it difficult for him to find meaningful roles. I wanted to ask Brad Pitt about that, but he was too busy acting in meaningful roles.”

Rob took all the jokes in good spirits, and he took to Twitter afterwards to thank those involved with the show.

“Thanks to @ComedyCentral and all my funny pals who took the time to kill me with kindness tonight. #LoweRoast,” he posted.
