Celebrating Colours 2016: Music Fest in Mackey in support of the Child Poverty Action Network (CPAN) takes place this Saturday

By Pembroke Daily Observer

It’s that beautiful autumn time of year again, and you are invited to celebrate at the annual Child Poverty Action Network (CPAN) fundraiser Celebrating Colours: 2016 Music Fest in Mackey on Sept. 24 from 3 to 8 p.m.

The event features a wonderful lineup of local musicians and an abundant barbecue to enjoy around the campfire. Bring a chair, sweater, your favourite drink, and plates/cutlery, if you remember. We’re going as green as possible this year.

CPAN is a grassroots organization whose mandate is to eliminate the effects of poverty in ways that are empowering and multifaceted. Programs include Tools for School, Operation Snowsuit, School Inclusion Project, Harmony, and the Good EGG (Edible Grassroots Gardens). CPAN reaches out to the community to educate and advocate for systemic change, as well as to help families access goods and services in conjunction with over 600 individuals and 62 agencies within Renfrew County. CPAN is not government funded and relies solely on grants, community fundraising and donations to stay in operation. Please visit the website: www.renfrewcountycpan.ca, or its Facebook at www.facebook.com/childpovertyactionnetwork for more information.

Meanwhile, do come and join in for an afternoon and evening of good music, good food, and great people. The address is #38692, Highway 17 West, 20 minutes west of Deep River.

Tickets are available from the Olive Tree in Deep River, or from Cathy and Dave Balla-Boudreau at 613-586-2634, or email ballaboudreaudc@hotmail.com. Cost is $25 for adults, $8 for children 12 and under. Donations also gratefully accepted, and tax receipts are available for donations of $10 or more. See you there!
