Former 'Apprentice' contestant comes to Trump's defence: 'I'd rather be grabbed by the p---- than governed by one'

Katie Hopkins, a former contestant on the U.K. version of The Apprentice, has come out in defence of Donald Trump this week amid accusations the presidential candidate sexually assaulted women.

The reality star says the Trump scandal has been blown out of proportion and penned a column for the Daily Mail, which boasted the headline: “So Trump is (a very flawed) human – big deal. I’d rather be grabbed by the p---- than governed by one.”

In the Oct. 12 column, Hopkins describes the lewd comments Trump made to then-Access Hollywood host Billy Bush as vulgar, but no worse than the things she’s seen average people say or do in their private lives.

“What he said was crude. But no worse than I heard on a train to work this morning, when two male managers were discussing their working trip to Vegas ... No worse than young women happily swiping right on Tinder ... Or politicians indulging themselves with rent boys ... or Bill Clinton getting light relief from Monica in the Oval Office ... And certainly no worse than the Hillary-voting, smug rape-culture rappers who like to hang out at the Obama White House while peddling vile lyrics to kids that would make Trump blush,” Hopkins wrote in the Daily Mail column.

“It will be a cruel irony if the very thing that sees Trump lose this election is that he has human flaws just like the rest of us.”

Several GOP members - including House Speaker Paul Ryan and Arizona Sen. John McCain - have pulled their support for Trump since the Washington Post published a recording of the Republican’s lewd comments last week.

An attorney for Bush defended his part in the conversation, saying he would have been fired if he had been passive or if he had told Trump to shut up.

Bush, who joined NBC News’ Today as a co-host in recent months, has been suspended by the TV network.

As for Hopkins, this isn’t the first time that she has come to the defence of Trump. In a Dec. 2015 Daily Mail column, she supported Trump’s calls for a ban on Muslims entering the United States, stating that “he is articulating a sentiment held by millions and reinforcing himself as a protector of the American people.”
