Driver of tractor trailer involved in fatal crash identified

The damaged tractor portion of the tractor trailer involved in Thursday's fatal crash on Highway 60 is taken away by a wrecker on Friday. The driver of the truck, 63-year-old John Culp of North Algona Wilberforce Township was pronounced dead at the scene.

DEACON – The driver of a tractor trailer who was killed when his rig crashed on Highway 60 in North Algona Wilberforce Township on Thursday, Dec. 1 has been identified by police.

John Culp, 63, of North Algona Wilberforce Twp. Was pronounced dead at the scene.

This was a single vehicle crash. Culp’s tractor trailer, loaded with lumber, had veered off of the highway and struck several trees.

Highway 60 East from Round Lake Road to Chapel Lane was closed while officers from the Killaloe Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted an investigation into the crash, led by OPP technical traffic collision investigators (TTCI). The highway has been reopened.

Police said in a press release that the investigation into the cause of the crash is continuing.
