KINGSTON - Renfrew County athletes showed their stuff during the recent Eastern Ontario Secondary School Athletic Association (EOSSAA) Track and Field Championships.

During the meet of eastern Ontario high schools held at Thousand Islands Secondary School on May 19, Renfrew County athletes once more excelled winning 13 events. The top five finishers in each category advance to the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) East Regionals championships in Ottawa.

Here are the remainder of the top five results. Abby Martin, from Fellowes High School, claimed third place in the girls 100-metre dash intellectual. Kathleen Barr, from Opeongo High School, captured third in the senior girls high jump. Opeongo's Eve Schruoeder finished third in the midget girls javelin throw and qualified in the shot put. Reese Mellema, from Arnprior District High School, took third in the midget girls 300-metre hurdles, followed by Fellowes' Emily Phannenour, who came in fifth. Phannenour also came in fifth in the 80-metre hurdles.

Dante Hoffman, from Valour High School, came in third place in the junior boys 400-metre. Jeanne-Lajoie's Dakota Perrin captured third in the junior boys shot put, followed by Fellowes' Tyler Hartwick, in fifth. Hartwick claimed third in the junior boys discus throw, followed by Arnprior's Kelly Bean and Mason Lynch, from Renfrew Collegiate Institute (RCI). Opeongo's Luke Verch came in third in the junior boys high jump, followed by RCI's Zach Wroe, who took fifth.

Finishing third place in the senior girls long jump was Fellowes' Megan Malley, who was followed by Fellowes' Trinity Adams-Walker and Hannah Robertson, from St. Joseph's Catholic High School. Valour's Colton Moore claimed third in the midget boys javelin throw, followed by Brayden Schimmens, from Bishop Smith Catholic High School, in fourth. Arnprior's Kurtis Gardiner took third in the senior boys 400-metre hurdles, followed by Arnprior's Kurtis Malloch, who took fifth.

Valour's Hayden Weisenberg took third in the junior boys 100-metre dash, followed by Valour's Carter Schardt, in fifth. Weisenberg also qualified in the 200-metre dash. Jeanne-Lajoie's Thomas Csisztu claimed fourth in the senior boys 3,000-metre run and fourth in the 1,500-metre run. Arnprior's Matthew Hebert took fourth in the senior boys 800-metre boys and qualified in the 1,500-metre run. St. Joseph's Jacob Zekorn claimed fourth in the midget boys shot put, while Fellowes' Jack Moryoto took fourth in the junior boys 300-metre hurdles. Jordan Martin, from Mackenzie Community School, took fourth in the senior boys high jump.

Valour's Hali Deruiter qualified with a fifth-place finish in the midget girls 1,500-metre run. Bishop Smith's Tara Bradley came in fourth in the midget girls 3,000-metre run. Arnprior's Kaylen Proulx took fourth in the midget boys high jump. Valour's Ben Lee qualified in the senior boys 800-metre and took fourth in the 2,000-metre open steeplechase. Valour's Kianna Yemen took fourth in the senior girls 400-metre dash. Yemen grabbed fourth in the 200-metre dash, followed by Payton Ziebarth, who finished fifth. Fellowes' Melanie Weisenberg took fourth in the senior girls discus throw.

Mackenzie's Ava Yates took fourth in the junior girls high jump, followed by Mackenzie's Aylanna Cox, in fifth. St. Joseph's Savanna Brown qualified in the midget girls triple jump, while Opeongo's Maria Howard qualified in the junior girls long jump. Valour's Remi Lavoie qualified in the junior girls javelin throw, while Arnprior's Olivia McIntyre qualified in the senior girls 100-metre dash.

Fellowes' Xavier Chingee took fourth in the junior boys 800-metre and qualified in the 1,500-metre run. Ethan Fitch, from Ecole L'Equinoxe, qualifed in the midget boys 400-metre dash, while Valour's Liam Serviss qualified in the midget boys 800-metre run. Equinoxe's Guillaume Pelchat qualified in the midget boys 3,000-metre run. Valour's Noah Leblanc took fourth in the junior boys javelin throw. Fellowes' Isaiah Thomas qualified in the senior boys long jump, while Valour's Ethan Bullivant qualified in the senior boys shot put. Arnprior's Justin Smith qualified in the senior boys discus throw.

Valour's senior girls squad of Sophie Warren, Enya Schroeder, Kianna Yemen and Hali Deruiter took fourth in 4x400-metre relay open. Valour's senior boys squad of Nick Bauernschmitt, Charles Osborne, Ben Lee and Andrew Bryanton took fourth in the 4x400-metre relay open. Valour's junior boys squad of Carter Schardt, Noah Leblanc, Hayden Weisenberg and Sam Madipoor, claimed fourth in 4x100-metre relay.
