Great North Wrestling (GNW) is returning to Pembroke with a star-studded lineup.
The action will be held at the Pembroke Memorial Centre on Friday, June 30 at 7:30 p.m.
Admission to this event is free with a donation of non-perishable food which will be given to Pembroke food banks.
The card will feature a three-way main event with Canadian heavyweight champion Renee Dupree putting his title on the line against the man he defeated to gain the title, Hannibal ‘The Death Dealer’ and former Impact Wrestling – Total Nonstop Action (TNA) star Wes Brisco.
The bout will be a rematch of sorts after the ‘Cage Wars’ event in Smiths Falls where the title match between Dupree and Hannibal in a mixed martial arts cage was stopped due to an injury to Hannibal, with Dupree retaining the belt.
In addition to being the current Canadian heavyweight champion, Dupree is a two-time World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Tag Team Champion, former Gaora TV Championship in All Japan and was also a Mr. Canada Bodybuilding National Champion. He is a second generation wrestler as his father is legendary Atlantic Canadian wrestler and promoter Emile Dupree.
Wes Brisco is a former TNA and New Japan competitor and is known as the founder of the global ‘Aces and Eights’ outlaw biker wrestling stable, along with also being a second generation star as his father is WWE Hall of Famer Gerald Brisco.
Hannibal is a two-time Canadian heavyweight champion, former Independent Wrestling Association Puerto Rico intercontinental champion and two-time World Wrestling Council Puerto Rico tag team champion who will be seeking to regain that title after running into some bad luck in Smiths Falls in May.
Also in action, three-time WWE intercontinental champion Shelton Benjamin will also be making his GNW debut. Benjamin is a South Carolina Native who followed a stellar amateur wrestling career with a decade-long run in WWE, where he also held the United States title and was a two-time tag team champion.
In a special woman's match, Lady Yasmine will take on Eve in a final tune-up match before the highly-anticipated GNW Women’s Championship Tournament in Ottawa. Former Canadian heavyweight champion Jeremy Prophet will return to the ring against "Canada's Strongest Wrestler" Maximum Testosteron. Prophet suffered a major injury in May that caused him to miss the last GNW event in Smiths Falls.
In tag team action, Brockville’s Freak Nation (Sideshow Jack and Mad Man Taylor ) will return and there will be a "Tables Match" between "Fabulous" Jacques Lamoureux and "The Bruiser" who is returning from a suspension. The Spoiler, The Crimson Shadow: Colin Oliver, Amanuel Hassan and newcomer Jebediah Tatum will also be on the card. The special ring announcer will be Kyle Robinson from MY FM.
