Thieves target historic New Brunswick church bells: RCMP

WOODSTOCK, N.B. — Thieves have stolen the bells of two historic New Brunswick churches.

RCMP say both were stolen in the last two weeks from churches near Woodstock, N.B.

St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Kirkland lost its bell sometime between July 16 and July 24.

Police say they found a bell July 25 at a Fredericton scrapyard, and thought it was St. Paul’s.

But that same day, the Kirk Church in Northampton reported it had lost its bell too, and police soon discovered the recovered bell actually belonged to that church.

The Kirkland bell is still missing.

Police ask anyone with information about either bell to contact the RCMP’s Woodstock detachment or Crime Stoppers.
