The Delfi Group and CNIB are inviting people to take part in a unique experience – eating a delicious meal while blindfolded.

On Friday, March 2, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., the Best Western Inn in Pembroke is offering Dining in the Dark, a unique sensory experience while you dine, while raising funds for the CNIB Foundation. This supports those living with sight loss in your community.

In partnership with CNIB (Canadian National Institute for the Blind), the Delfi Group is excited to invite the public to an evening of exploration to enjoy a delicious three course meal blindfolded. Chef Rene from the Pembroke Best Western Inn has created an exciting menu to discover textures, flavours and aromas in a whole new way. Tickets are $75 and this includes dinner and a complimentary glass of wine, a cash bar will also be available throughout the evening.

Funds raised support CNIB programming to provide information and emotional support to people of all ages who are blind and partially sighted. This includes one to one peer support and mentorship, drop-in groups, and phone and online support. Peer support and mentorship programs are offered free of charge to all who need them, thanks to the generous support of individuals.

For many, adjusting to life with sight loss is one of the most difficult experiences they’ll ever face. The profound stigma of sight loss, compounded by the significant challenges of accommodating it in nearly every aspect of practical life, can create overwhelming feelings of fear, shame, despondency and isolation. The right support, at the right time, can make a world of difference. No one should have to face sight loss alone
