Fellowes Falcons win consolation quarter-final at OFSAA boys basketball tournament

On Tuesday, teams moved onto the championship and consolation quarter-finals at the OFSAA "AA" Basketball tournament in Pembroke.

The Fellowes Falcons won its consolation quarter-final at Opeongo Tuesday night and now advances to the consolation semifinal at Valour Wednesday morning.

Fellowes won 51-42 over Lasalle SS (NOSSA). Logan Mahoney led the Falcons's offence with 19 points and Brennan LaPierre scored 11 points in a losing cause.

The Falcons's consoluation semifinal opponent was not decided at press time.

On the championship side, Lasalle Secondary School (EOSSAA) defeated St. Paul HS at Opeongo High School. The leading scorer for Lasalle was C. Syllas with 23 points and for St. Paul it was Luc Teslock with 21 points.

St. Theresa CSS beat Crescent School 51-42. Jarred Callahan scored 15 points for St. Theresa and Johnathan Agousti led his team with 22 points.

Mother Teresa CSS beat Westview Centennial SS 76-53. O. Rusagara led the offence for Mother Teresa with 26 points while H. Shallo scored 17 in a losing cause.

On the consolation side, Woodroofe HS beat Kapuskasing DHS 84-45. The top scores were Woodroofe's M. Omar and Kapuskasing's Liam Shadd with 24 and 28 points respectively.

IN a close game at Opeongo Tuesday evening, Francis Libermann CHS edged Assumption College 66-61. Jeremy Aibi led Francis Libermann with 29 points while Ali Al Abdulresool sunk 18 points in the loss.

In earlier action Tuesday, St. Paul HS edged Woodroofe 59-53. Luc Teslock led the offence again for St. Paul with 18 points while Ibrahim Al-Ahmadi led his team with 20 points.

Lasalle SS (EOSSAA) easily handled Milliken Mills HS 79-48. Cole Syllas led the way for Lasalle with 20 points and Feng Liu netted 16 points in a losing cause. Westview Centennial SS beat St. Ignatius HS 83-60 in action at Opeongo. Keshawn Fisher had 22 points for Westview while Jared Kreiner led his team with 18 points.

Tuesday morning at Valour High School, Crescent beat Ascension of Our Lord 69-51. At Fellowes Tuesday morning, Mother Teresa CSS beat Assumption College 53-39. Ali Al Abdulresool led Assumption with 17 points and H. Lorenzo led his team with 10 points.

In a close game at Opeongo Tuesday morning, St. Theresa CSS edged St. Joseph's CHS 74-72. In a losing effort, St. Joseph's Trey Wilson scored a whopping 35 points while Jarred Callaghan led his team to victory with 18 points.

In a closer game at Valour, Corpus Christi CSS beat Lasalle SS (NOSSA) 54-39. Back at Fellowes, St. Francis CSS beat Glenview Park 55-43.

On the championship side, the result of the St. Francis CSS versus Corpus Christi CSS and on the consolation side the result of Anderson CVI versus St. Joseph’s CHS were unknown at press time.

The Ontario Federation of School Athletic Association AA boys basketball action continues Wednesday at Fellowes and Valour with the consolation final at Fellowes at 4 p.m., bronze medal game at 6 p.m. and the championship game also at Fellowes at 8 p.m.
