An online threat against a Fellowes High School student has kept officials on their toes, and the police investigating.

On Monday evening at approximately 10:30 p.m., a student at Fellowes received a threat through the Instagram app. The OPP were made aware of the threat from an unknown person on Tuesday evening. They then contacted the school to advise them of the situation and inform them that they were investigating the threat directed toward students at Fellowes.

According to a Facebook posting by the Renfrew County District School Board, based on discussions with the OPP throughout the night and Wednesday morning, it was decided there is no immediate threat to staff and students and the regular school day proceeded as usual.

A heightened OPP presence is at the school, with police assuring people there is no threat to public safety. The investigation is continuing.
