The Upper Ottawa Valley OPP have wrapped up their investigation regarding a threat made against Fellowes High School.

Police have identified the person responsible for sending the online threats, received through social media.  The 14 yr. old male youth from the City of Pembroke cannot be identified under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA), but will face the consequences of Extra Judicial Measures in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The Renfrew County District School Board will handle the matter internally.

On Monday evening at approximately 10:30 p.m., a student at Fellowes received a threat through the Instagram app. The OPP were made aware of the threat from an unknown person on Tuesday evening. They then contacted the school to advise them of the situation and inform them that they were investigating the threat directed toward students at Fellowes.

According to a Facebook posting by the Renfrew County District School Board, based on discussions with the OPP throughout the night and Wednesday morning, it was decided there is no immediate threat to staff and students and the regular school day proceeded as usual.

A heightened OPP presence was at the school as a precaution, with police assuring people there was no threat to public safety.
