Stand-off in Petawawa ends peacefully

Members of the Upper Ottawa Valley detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police established a corden around a residence on Ravenwood Crescent in Petawawa late Sunday afternoon after responding to reports that a man had barricaded himself inside the home.

PETAWAWA - Members of the Upper Ottawa Valley detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police established a corden around a residence on Ravenwood Crescent in Petawawa late Sunday afternoon after responding to reports that a man had barricaded himself inside the home.

The Emergency Response Team (ERT) were deployed and a small section of the neighbourhood was closed to traffic. Ravenwood is situated off Laurentian Drive. A member from the East Region Crisis Negotiation Team was brought in. An ambulance from the County of Renfrew Paramedic Service was also placed on stand-by.

Four hours later, the situation was resolved when a 54-year-old male exited the residence and was taken into custody without incident. Police are continuing to investigate the matter.
