Crosstown rivals Bishop Smith and Fellowes spend day on the soccer pitch together

Crosstown rivals from Bishop Smith and Fellowes High School did battle on the soccer pitch May 7 with the Crusaders winning three and the fourth game ending in a scoreless draw.

In junior boys action, Bishop Smith won 4-3. Scoring for the home team were Quinn McCann, Karol Wiran, Noah Gage and Ayden Marleau while Braeden Kouloheris, Tyson Mireault, Myles Rowe responded for the Falcons.

In senior boys action, the Crusaders blanked the Falcons 2-0 with Jonah Bejjany scoring both goals for the home side.

In the junior girls game, it was Bishop Smith 4-0 over Fellowes. Elizabeth Kelly netted a pair of goals while Tara Bradley and Victoria Storing tallied one each.

The senior girls played to a scoreless draw.

On May 8, St. Joseph's High School hosted a number of junior girls games. Bishop Smith tied Renfrew Collegiate Institute 1-1. RCI's goal came from Josie Doering with the scoring for the Crusaders was Victoria Storing. Bishop Smith also edged Jeanne-Lajoie 2-1. Kaitlyn Bourgeouis and Victoria Storing tallied for Bishop Smith while Mya Pitcher scored the lone goal for the Chevaliers.

In other action, St. Joe's edged RCI 1-0, Fellowes and Jeanne-Lajoie tied 1-1, RCI blanked Fellowes 2-0 and St. Joe's and Jeanne-Lajoie played to a scoreless draw.

Also on May 8, the junior boys teams played a number of games at Ma-te-Way Park in Renfrew.

Bishop Smith blanked RCI 1-0 with Ayden Marleau scoring the lone goal for the Crusaders. The Crusaders also beat Mackenzie Community School, this time by a 2-0 score. Keaton Kerr and Karol Weran scored for Bishop Smith.

The Falcons blanked Mackenzie 2-0 with Braeden Kouloheris tallying both Falcon goals. Fellowes later lost 4-1 against RCI with Tyson Mirault scoring the lone Falcon goal. Scoring for RCI were Jack Stewart, Crawford Levoy, Wes Mathews and Jon Roach

St. Joe's beat RCI 3-1 with Nolan McGregor scoring a pair and Jacob Zekorn adding one in the win while Crawford Leavoy tallied for RCI.

The Jaguars also blanked Mackenzie 3-0. McGregor and J. Pianosi scored for St. Joe's.

In senior boys action last week, Valour and Jeanne-Lajoie played to a scoreless draw, St. Joe's blanked the Opeongo Wildcats 4-0, Arnprior District High School beat Opeongo 4-1, Mackenzie hammered Fellowes 9-0, Bishop Smith and Jeanne-Lajoie tied at one, St. Joe's blanked RCI 4-0, ADHS blanked Madawaska Valley District High School 4-0 and Mackenzie blanked Bishop Smith 3-0.

In senior girls soccer action last week, Valour beat Jeanne-Lajoie 3-1, Bishop beat Jeanne-Lajoie 3-1, Valour beat Fellowes 2-1, Mackenzie beat Bishop Smith 3-0, Valour beat Mackenzie 4-1, Mackenzie blanked Fellowes 2-0. In other games St. Joe's beat Opeongo 4-1, ADHS blanked Opeongo 4-0, St. Joe's doubled RCI 4-2, ADHS blanked Madawaska Valley 3-0 and Opeongo edged Madawaska Valley 3-2.
