Cornwall police charge teen with assaults, theft, breaches

A 14-year-old girl is facing seven charges after police responded to a call on Thursday.

Police alleged the teen assaulted her mother, choked her, and assaulted her with a weapon before taking an item from the residence and breaching her release order by leaving the residence. When located, the officers taking her into custody alleged the teen assaulted a police officer.

The teen, whose identity cannot be released under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was charged with assault with a weapon; assault causing bodily harm – choke, suffocate, or strangle; assault; assault a peace officer; theft under $5,000; breach of probation for not following house rules; and, breach of a release order for leaving her residence during specified hours.

She was held in police custody pending a bail hearing in Cornwall court.

Threats

A 37-year-old woman from Cornwall is facing two charges after police responded to a complaint on Thursday.

Police alleged the woman threatened someone she knows.

Melanie Lalonde, 37, was charged with two counts of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.

She was released from police custody to appear in Cornwall court on June 13.
