RCDHU reports ninth COVID-related death, two new infections today

The Renfrew County and District Health Unit is reporting a ninth COVID-related death in Renfrew County and district.

The RCDHU website dashboard was update June 2 to show the death, along with two new COVID-19 infections and one additional resolved case since yesterday.

Ontario’s website has this latest death listed as a man in his 50s who contracted the virus May 8, while the case was reported May 27.

Now overall in Renfrew County and district 717 infections have been reported since the start of the pandemic with 685 considered resolved and nine deaths attributed to the virus. More information on the location of the latest cases and number of people in hospital and self-isolating won’t be known until the next detailed case summary is released, which is expected Thursday.

The County of Renfrew Paramedic Service and Renfrew County Virtual Triage and Assessment Centre (RCVTAC) continue COVID-19 testing at clinics with locations throughout Renfrew County. The testing schedule for May 31 to June 5 continues. There are no clinics scheduled for today, but there are clinics in Cobden Thursday, Laurentian Valley, Deep River and Barry’s Bay Friday and Arnprior and Horton Saturday. To book a test call the RCVTAC at 1-844-727-6404 to schedule a testing time as no walk-ups are permitted at this time. Online booking is now available at Course: Online Booking (rcvtac.ca). When attending the clinics you must wear a mask or face covering, arrive at your scheduled time and bring your health card and proof of address.
