Congratulations to the Petawawa-Pembroke Pirates for advancing to the semi-finals in the minor division (9-10/a) at the annual Del Harper Tournament, hosted by Perth Community Little League, July 11th and 12th, 2015. The team finished with a loss to the tournament’s Championship team, the West Ottawa Twins.
The Pirates first game of the tournament was played against the Orleans Red Sox, in which they won 14-2. Their second game was a loss against the Brockville Braves, 10-3 ; and their third game, which gained them a spot in the semi-finals was a win against the Kanata Kubs, 14-4. Players, coaches and spectators from all teams were very supportive and cheered on the success of the Pirates, as an underdog in this tournament.
The Pirates are currently preparing for their upcoming Little League District 8 Playdown tournament, taking place in Renfrew, on July 18th and 19th. They will compete against both Barry's Bay and Perth teams, with hopes to secure a spot at the Provincials, held in Brockville, Ont., August 1st - 5th, 2015.
