Thirteen members of the Fellowes High School Key Club attended the 67th Annual Eastern Canada Key Club District Convention in Charlottetown, PEI from April 18-20. This year’s theme, Hats Off to Service, was an opportunity for attendees to celebrate successes, learn more about Key Club International and plan for another year of service. We celebrated service to our homes, schools and communities as we shared our stories with new and old friends. Clubbers had many opportunities to learn and develop leadership skills and build their character through interactive workshops. Fellowes was very successful winning several of the convention contests and awards: Strive for Five Award (our club grew by at least 5 members), Paul Kelly Joint K Award (we completed 5 service projects with the Pembroke Kiwanis Club), 3rd place for the Major Emphasis Award ( we held a 30 hour famine at Fellowes High School and raised over $2000 for the Eliminate Project- eliminating maternal and neo-natal tetanus , Spirit Stick Award (our division showed the most spirit at the Convention), 3rd place in the Club poster contest drawn by Correna Mackenzie, and Eileen Lau won the Outstanding Key Clubber Award for her commitment and dedication to the Fellowes Key Club. Key Club is a student-led organization with the goal of teaching leadership through service. It is the oldest and largest service program for high school students and is a part of Kiwanis International.
