Following the success of last year’s festivities, which included engaging events and awareness campaigns, the committee is eager to continue its efforts in 2024. The week-long celebration will kick off on Sunday, May 26, at 1 p.m. with a flag-raising ceremony featuring the National AccessAbility Week flag created by the Rick Hansen Foundation. The flag-raising will take place at the community flagpole located at the Container Market at 16 Civic Centre Road. Organizers said in a press release the event serves as a symbolic launch for a week dedicated to discussions and actions toward creating a more accessible Petawawa.

In addition to the flag-raising ceremony, the committee promises a series of messages and resources throughout the week to support and promote NAAW initiatives.
